These s’mores traders are super fun to make! My daughters have been part of Girl Guides of Canada for up to 12 years now (as have I as a Guider or Leader) and has been a lot of fun throughout the years — especially when we got to make traders to share and trade with other units! The traders that are received are then pinned to a camp hat which is worn at Girl Guide camps and functions to show off the fabulous traders that have been obtained throughout the years! Some units we were part of did not make them and others we were part of made a lot! One of our projects with my daughter’s current unit was to make a trader that we will share and trade with the other girls in the unit. We had a lot of fun coming up with different traders, like this s’mores trader!
But you do not need to be a Girl Guide (or Girl Scout) to want to make and share these traders! You can easily make them and share with anyone in your community! You can leave them out in random spots for others to find and brighten their day, share with classmates and teachers or even just to simply make them for fun!
Let’s get started!
We need the following supplies to make these cute s’mores traders: small googly eyes, white pom poms, dark brown and light brown felt, scissors, hot glue, thread and needle, safety pins and paper to write your fun message on!
Cut 2 pieces of light brown and 2 pieces of dark brown felt, 1-1/2″ square.
Place the dark brown felt (which is the chocolate) on top of the light brown felt (which is the graham cracker) and place the pom pom over top (which is the marshmallow).
Cover the pom pom with the dark brown and light brown felt.
Now that we have the s’mores assembled, we will sew them together and leave a loop at the top. You can also hot glue it altogether instead of sewing it.
I first put the thread through the felt, then the pom pom and then through the top felt. Knot it a few times and then leave a loop at the top, placing a knot once again to secure it.
Next, it is time to add some googly eyes to these cute little s’mores! Hot glue the eyes on the pom pom although you could also hot glue the googly eyes to the top “cracker” felt. Are they not the cutest!?!
Attach little inspirational card to the s’mores similar to what I have done. I spruced it up with stickers that smell like marshmallows and cut them out with a 3-1/2″ square with scalloped edges punch using white cardstock and a brown felt marker. You really can do anything you like for this part.

Attach the s’mores trader to the card using the safety pin. I wrapped the loop around the safety pin a couple times and then placed it through the card.
Here are my s’mores traders! This is a fun craft to make with kids to hand out at the end of school, to teachers, for “pay-it-forward” days when you want to hand out something cute and inspirational, to make when camping (or glamping) or for Girl Guide/Girl Scout traders! No matter the reason for making them, they are super fun to do!
