Chocolate Toffee Snacks is also known as “Christmas Crack” which is a delicious chocolatey-toffee that is baked on saltine crackers. It is like chocolatey-toffee-candy-like once cooled. And you do not even notice that the base is a saltine cracker! It is delectable and once you start eating, you just cannot stop!!
These are perfect for the holiday season! You can pack them in a nice tin or in cellophane tied with a pretty ribbon to give as a gift. We piled up these scrumptious morsels in a bowl and left it on the counter that hardly lasted just a few days! We ended up making another batch so we could add to platters of baking to give away! These are a family favorite!
Let’s get started!
Line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper (which makes for easy clean up) and lay saltine crackers out in a single layer.
Next, combine butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Boil for 2 to 3 minutes or until bubbly and thick and creamy looking.
Pour over top saltines and bake in 350F oven for 5 minutes. It will get all bubbly and lightly golden.
Remove from oven and scatter chocolate over top. We used semisweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and a chopped up holiday salted caramel chocolate bar. Let sit for a few minutes – the chocolate will look glossy. Spread chocolate over caramel-toffee layer.
Sprinkle chocolate candy pieces or toffee bits over top, or drizzle with colorful chocolate and swirl. Let cool. This is the hardest part (to not take a nibble!). Chocolate will harden once completely cooled and set.
Does that not look delicious!!?!! And festive too!
Once cooled and chocolate has set, break into pieces. Place in a bowl or place in an airtight container or decorative tin. These are sure to be a hit!
