In the 1940s nothing went to waste. To use up stale bread, the bread was mixed with reconstituted dried egg to create this bread omelet. Just a couple ingredients makes a filling meal. Add some bacon ration to it for a little added flavor.
Let’s get started!
Mix dried egg with water. I add a splash of milk too and whisk well. Combine some bread with the reconstituted egg. Pour into hot greased skillet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Flip once egg is browned.

On the second one, I combine egg and the bread. Poured it into the greased skillet and mashed it down a bit. Then I spooned some more egg over top. Let cook until egg has browned.

Flip. I see a bit of raw egg, so I will flip it again after.

I flipped it again to cook a bit of raw egg. This bread omelet looks so much better!

This bread omelet is actually pretty good, and goes great with any breakfast!

Bread Omelet
3 slices stale bread
4 to 5 tbsp dried egg and enough water to reconstitute – I never measure
Splash milk
Combine egg, water and milk together. Tear bread into small pieces. Mix some egg with bread. Spoon into a hot skillet that’s lightly greased because it will stick. Spoon a bit more egg over top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Once browned, flip and cook until browned.
