We’ve been making all kinds of goodies this week including this amazing pumpkin hot chocolate! It tastes like pumpkin pie in a mug.
It’s a great way to warm up on a cold day! Even though it’s been warm, we still enjoyed this pumpkin hot chocolate with some snickerdoodle pumpkin loaf. So good together!
We made the pumpkin hot chocolate on the stove but you can easily cook it in the crockpot for a couple hours so it’s ready when you come home from a fall-time walk.
Let’s get started!
First, chop the chocolate. We are using white baking chocolate. We’ll be using the whole bar. Set aside.
To a large saucepan, add pumpkin (this is canned pumpkin because our homemade pumpkin puree wasn’t ready yet). Add pumpkin pie spice and vanilla. Stir.
Add condensed milk.
Add heavy cream. You could also use half and half. Add any milk of your choice. The cream definitely makes a rich hot chocolate.
Add chocolate. Simmer on medium heat until heated through, and chocolate has melted. Do not boil or the hot chocolate may curdle.
I simmered the hot chocolate for about 30 minutes.
This is amazing and perfect for a chilly autumn’s day!
Pumpkin Hot Chocolate
2 cups pumpkin puree
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups white chocolate chips — high quality baking chocolate is better!
1 – 14oz can condensed milk
2 cups heavy cream
6 cups milk
Combine altogether in a crockpot. Place on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Or combine in a pot on the stove and simmer until the chocolate is melted and the hot chocolate is warm.
