Before we head back into 1940s Days (because we actually miss following rations, trying new recipes and listening to old fashioned music), we are doing Games Days!!
We are kicking it off with Hay Day by Supercell which came to iOS in 2012. I’m not in any way affiliated with them, we just enjoy playing the game!
We decided to play Hay Day on our iPads for a fun day!! There’s so many food items in Hay Day that it’s so easy to make our own versions of these foods to eat while we play the game together. It’s so much fun!
Let’s get to it!
Hay Day – Day One
For breakfast, we had mini maple pancakes. The Pancakes in the game are made in the BBQ Grill, and are a stack of large pancakes, but mini are more fun! These are so delicious!!
For the pancakes: combine 1 cup milk, pinch salt, 1 cup flour, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp baking powder and 2 eggs. Mix well. Pour into a lightly greased donut pan. Bake at 350F for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly golden.

Lunch was Cheese Pizza which is made in the Bakery. We made pita pizzas for the cheese pizza for something different. I opted to buy the pitas from the grocery store, then we spread pizza sauce over top, topped it with shredded cheese baked until golden. We had that with carrots (one of the crops in Hay Day) and dip. We also had berry juice, similar to what you’d find in the Juice Press.

Snack was Blackberry Muffins that can be made in Hay Day in the Bakery.
Combine 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup melted butter. Beat well.
Add 1 cup flour (I used all-purpose along with whole wheat), 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/4 tsp salt. Mix gently. Add remaining 1/2 cup flour and 1 cup blackberries, halved. Stir gently. Be careful to not over mix otherwise you’ll get flat tops like I did. I used a mix of all purpose flour and whole wheat.
Scoop into a lightly greased muffin tin. Let sit 10 minutes. (I skipped this and voila, flat muffin tops! I always let them sit and I always get nice domed tops!). Bake at 350F for 18 to 22 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. You can also insert cake tester in centre to be sure it comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
Our muffins ended up with flat tops but they have crispy edges and are light and fluffy. So good!

Supper was Egg Salad Sandwiches – similar to what you’d find from the Sandwich Bar. I had tomato with mine (another Hay Day crop).
Here’s the egg salad sandwich in the game:

For our egg salad, we slightly mashed 10 boiled eggs that were refrigerated until cold. To that we added kewpie mayo, yogurt, dried dill, salt and pepper, shredded cheese, chopped and cooked chicken bacon, celery, green onion, chopped dill pickle and a bit of pickle juice. Mix well.
Onto french bread (we bought from the grocery store), we buttered it, placed a slice of swiss cheese on top, lettuce, egg salad and topped with the bread. I ate tomato along with my sandwich. It was so delicious!
The bread for the egg salad in the game is different, but the loaf of french bread is shaped like the bread in the game, so that’s why we chose it for our sandwich!

While we ate, we played our game. I was harvesting fields for my Farm Pass since it was double farm pass points. I actually got quite far in farm pass!

Hay Day – Day Two
Breakfast was Honey Toast that is made in the Sandwich Bar in the game. Since the items needed to make it is bread, eggs, milk and honey, I decided to make french toast.

The Fruit Salad is found in the Salad Bar and uses orange, strawberry, blackberry and honey. I used the orange, strawberry, blackberry as well as blueberry and drizzled it with orange juice instead of honey. It was so delicious!

For the french toast, I cracked one egg, added a teaspoon of sugar and a splash of milk. I whisked it really well and dipped the french bread into it. I cooked one piece for each of us. Once cooked, we drizzled it with honey. We had it with the fruit salad which was super delicious!

Lunch is Onion Soup from the Soup Kitchen.

So I decided to make potato onion soup with toasted cheesy bread. You can make this Onion Soup or this Potato Onion Soup. We also cooked sausages on the bbq since there’s hot dogs in Hay Day!

Supper is Spicy Pasta from the Pasta Kitchen.

For the spicy pasta, I cooked onion for the sauce in water and some butter. I added tomato sauce, a bunch of jalapenos and habaneros from our garden last year (I froze the peppers whole). I let that cook for about an hour and served it over fettuccine. It was delicious and not overly spicy but did have a hint of spice.

We finished it all off with a banana split which is made in the Ice Cream Maker in Hay Day. It was so delicious!
In the game, it requires banana, cream and cherries. For ours, we used banana of course, chocolate ice cream as well as vanilla ice cream, strawberries, homemade chocolate sauce, cherry pie filling, chopped chocolate and homemade caramel sauce. It was scrumptiously divine! It was a great way to end our fun days!
